the desert farmer, day 25: still dark

As I've told you before, Yotvata's farmers start work at 5am, sometimes even earlier, at 4am, due to the serious heat that comes up after 12 noon. That means that when we arrive at the date fields it's still dark and it doesn't get any daylight for at least 1-2 hours. The only way we can work is by using the light beams that are installed onto the Afron machines and that's what we do. There are four strong beams in each platform and as it circles the tree trunk, the light hits the leaves and the branches and we can see what's going on over there and work regularly.

It's a great, really special ambiance, as you may see in these photos that I took this morning. A bit surreal or from another world, reminds me of Gulliver stories, a giant is sleeping and the Lilliputians are working on him - that's a big tree, being illuminated on the top of it, while a bunch of people around are working on it. We also put on some music that creates atmosphere, as most of the Afron machines have a car type of radio and a big speaker and you can jack your i-pod on it and have your music playing...
